- You’re here for the Pumpkins, aren’t you? -

In the late 90s I began my own light-hearted experiments in pumpkin carving, using the depth of the cuts, and the thickness of the pumpkin itself, to generate shading. Rather than sculpting pumpkins to create a 3D object, or punching all the way through in silhouette, I create lantern-like scenes that have visual depth and shading.

I started doing architecturally-related scenes on the pumpkins for Halloween, and sending an email to my clients for Halloween with that year’s pumpkin. It’s been nearly 25 years. The scenes keep getting more elaborate. For 2022, I spent nearly 60 hours on a seven-foot long wrap-around carving of Frankenstein’s Monster being chased by the Townspeople.
